Pietre d'Inciampo Book Cover

I participated in a special project with my university in collaboration with Pietre d'Inciampo, a foundation that is mainly known for making square-shaped, golden plaques, each one dedicated to a Holocaust victim, that are dug into the pavement next to the last building in which they lived, with details such as their year of birth, when they died, and which camp they were brought to.

This is a concept I created for a publication aimed at young adults sharing the life stories of the recipients of the new plaques that were created this year, with the goal being for these stories to never be forgotten. The eye is a powerful symbol of humanity and is commonly known as the "window to the soul" as it can express so many emotions on its own. In this design, the eye has been created from the rounded square shape of the plaques, which intrigues the viewer. The rectangle shape partly conceals the eye and represents doors, as the title of the publication is "21 Doors," with the doors being the main symbol of the last places in which these victims chose to live before that was taken from them.
